Young winners of a colouring competition which was held at Beverley Market have been presented with their prizes.

Judges decided the four youngsters, who are all pupils at Leconfield Primary School, produced the best festive artwork for a Christmas family day held at Beverley’s Saturday Market in December.

A1038 Kingsgate Carriageway Improvement Works Under Way In Bridlington

As part of its programme of highway maintenance works, East Riding of Yorkshire Council is carrying out essential carriageway improvement works on the A1038 Kingsgate between Wilsthorpe Roundabout and Kingston Road, Bridlington.

The works began on Monday, 7 January 2019 and are expected to be completed in six weeks (weather permitting).

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has received National Lottery funding of £8,943 which will be used to deliver the ‘Serves Tennis’ programme in Withernsea.

Part of the Active Communities Everywhere project, the programme aims to encourage young people in deprived areas to have access to fun and engaging tennis sessions. It is especially aimed at those children who would not otherwise have access to such activities.

Following their impressive win the previous week against Pontefract this was another first-class display and another well earned victory. Moreover, for most of the game, they did it with fourteen men after Alfie Hart-Fisher had been red-carded early on for dangerous play. They owed a lot to their pack which even down to seven men still ended the game looking the stronger of the two sets of forwards.
