Hundreds of children and their families stepped into an amazing place where anything could happen, transported into a world of stories, imagination, creativity and fun as they enjoyed Hull’s third annual children’s literature festival.

Following a successful school’s programme last week in Hull’s ‘Malarkey Park’, The Big Malarkey Festival gates opened on Saturday for a two-day jam-packed programme that has inspired families of all ages.

The blue and golds will take on Hull Dockers this Saturday in their only derby fixture this season. Beverley will face Hull Dockers at 2.30pm kick-off at the Leisure Centre.

The match is also the second leg of the Paul ‘Curly’ Quiney Cup. The match, sponsored by the Middleton family, seems likely to attract the biggest crowd of the season so far to the Leisure Centre with a lot riding on the game.

Free Bus Travel For Leisure Users As Ennerdale Closes Its Doors

As Ennerdale Leisure Centre prepares to close its doors for a £1.76 million refurbishment, users are being offered free bus travel to its closest alternative, Woodford.

The facility in Sutton Road will close on Sunday 30 June at 4.30pm for upgrades to electrical and mechanical services plus refurbishment to the reception, cafe gym, studio and sauna areas.

Rapist Mark Scott Sentenced For Series Of Sex Attacks On Women

 A former prison officer who was found guilty of nine counts of rape and one of attempted rape of six different women has today been sentenced to a total of 28 years at Hull Crown Court.

Mark Scott, 34, formerly of Daville Close in Hull was found guilty last month of the offences which dated back to 2005 and stretched over a period of 13 years.

When Nesta Merrells passed away, her family discovered a tube of twenty pence pieces which she had been collecting throughout Lent, for an annual fundraiser along with the rest of the congregation of Walkington Methodist Church.

This year the congregation took up the East Yorkshire foodbank challenge of saving forty pence for forty days. Nesta’s, however, was only recently found in her bedside table.

On loan from the Natural History Museum in London, the exhibition features 100 awe-inspiring images, from fascinating animal behaviour to breathtaking wild landscapes.
