East Riding residents are being given the chance to have their say on plans to improve access to GP services in the region by making more appointments available outside of normal GP practice opening hours.

NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is looking to use funding from NHS England to offer additional appointments from 2019 and is running a short survey to help shape what this may look like.

Despite many government-led initiatives such as the removal of stamp duty, it seems that increased living costs and fears over a rise in interest rates will put many people off buying a new home in 2018.

Last year saw both the number of homes sold and their prices decreasing across the whole of the HU17 area. Compared to a relative high point in 2014, the number of home sales in the HU17 region was at its lowest point since 2009. And when coupled with a sudden drop in prices compared to 2016, it seems that the market is set for a tough year.

Two local women are encouraging East Riding residents to take their cervical screening test when it is offered, and not to be embarrassed for the sake of their health.

With Cervical Cancer Prevention Week taking place from 22-28 January, East Riding residents are being urged to take up their cervical screening invitations after statistics showed that one in five women fail to book and attend their smear tests. That’s 20% who are throwing away the chance to detect the changes that could lead to cervical cancer and could be treated at an early stage.

On a fine, dry day Hullensians kicked off and immediately mounted an attack down the left flank. This was thwarted by some sound defending by Beverley but they were unable to make much headway into the Hullensians half initially and play was mostly concentrated on the Beverley 22.

On 7 minutes Hullensians were awarded a penalty which was successfully converted to give them a 3-0 lead. Despite the two sides looking to be pretty evenly matched, Beverley were unable to gain much possession and Hullensians were proving to be very good at retaining the ball. Eventually after 20 minutes, another successful penalty saw Hullensians take a 6-0 lead.
