Longcroft To Keep Parents Informed Of Improvement Plans Following Meeting With Cllr Healy

St Mary’s Ward Councillor Denis Healy has met with the Acting Head of Longcroft School, Andy Baker, together with Longcroft pupils and teachers, following last week’s publication of the national progress scores, which revealed that Longcroft had the lowest score in the East Riding for pupil progress and below the national average.

Cllr Healy had said that parents needed to “have faith” that the school could turn round its performance. That prompted Mr Baker to contact Cllr Healy with an invitation to visit the school, to see for himself the work that is going on to get Longcroft back on track.

Results show that 46.30pc of students studying in East Yorkshire Schools achieved grade 5 or above in English and Maths.

Foundations Live, the region’s biggest co-located construction trade and careers event, took place for the third time this month. As an event, it attracted by far the biggest audience yet, with over 1,000 people in attendance across the day. 

The event saw hundreds of industry professionals and schools visit Bishop Burton College’s equine arena, which hosted more than 70 companies exhibiting products and services and advising hundreds of students on how to gain a route into the workplace.

East Riding School Children Celebrate Right To Be

An LGBTQ anti-hate crime project which has involved schools and communities across the East Riding was celebrated at an event in Beverley attended by a Home Office minister.

The Right to Be project is an initiative led by children’s charity Barnardo’s in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s youth and family support service, following a £48,000 award of funding from the Home Office Hate Crime Community Projects fund.
