Tesco’s Community Grants scheme, which has supported more than 74,000 groups across the UK with over £127 million since 2016, continues to make a significant impact in Beverley. The Beverley Tesco store alone has seen 120 local projects benefit from over £210,000 in grants, supporting schools, charities, and community groups.
In the latest round of funding, several Beverley-based organisations have received crucial support:
Beverley in Bloom was awarded £1,500 for their ongoing mass bulb planting days. Chair Linda Freeman expressed gratitude for the grant, saying it will help bring colour to Beverley for years to come and inviting the community to join future planting events.
St Nicholas Primary School received £971 for their Wild Classroom project, which aims to grow into a Forest School. Head Teacher Terri Turton noted that the grant will provide vital resources for the school’s youngest children and has fostered a stronger sense of community involvement.
Beverley and Hornsea Explorer Scouts secured £500 to purchase camping and cooking equipment, enabling more young people to develop essential outdoor skills.
David Ryley, Tesco Beverley’s Community Champion, highlighted the ongoing opportunity for local schools and youth groups to apply for funding, particularly for projects improving access to healthy and nutritious food. For more information, residents are encouraged to visit the Tesco Stronger Starts website or contact the Beverley Tesco Community Champion directly.
These grants underscore the importance of community-driven initiatives in Beverley, helping local groups create lasting benefits for residents of all ages.
