McCarthy and Stone have showcased its proposals to redevelop the former Westwood Park Care Home, off Langholm Close.

Their plans will see the site developed into 51 high-quality retirement apartments. It will also feature communal facilities. These include a homeowners’ lounge, mobility scooter charging and storage room. 

Additional facilities included are 24-hour care provision, guest suite and lift access to all floors. and also an on-site bistro-style restaurant.  

Local councillors are offering assurances about the proposal. They are also looking to hear from residents who may have concerns.

Commenting on the plans, Cllr David Boynton said;

“McCarthy & Stone, the retirement housebuilder, has been in touch with us to say that they have acquired an interest in the former Westwood Park Care Home.”

“They are working up proposals for its redevelopment into extra care living .”

“As Ward councillors, we want to make sure that residents’ views are taken into account.”

 “McCarthy & Stone have recently built retirement accommodation on Molescroft Road. They now want to further develop their retirement home interests in Beverley.”

“The disused former care home site on Langholm Close is certainly in need of improvement. But it is important that any planning proposals are done in consultation with residents.”

“It is possible for planning conditions to be imposed if this was felt necessary.”

“We would ask residents to get in touch with us if they have any views to put forward on this so that we can ensure that these are reflected in the planning process.”

  1. David Boynton; a quiet but stolid councillor for Beverley and the East Riding. The other bloke just likes photo ops and does little else.
