say they are overwhelmed with the generosity shown by shoppers in Beverley. The comments come after the group raised almost £800 in donations on Christmas Eve.

This was the second time the Hull Samaritans had fundraised in the town centre over the festive period.

A spokesperson for the charity which provides emotional support in the area said;

“We would like to thank everyone who was kind enough to make a donation on Christmas Eve. The generosity shown by people in the town was overwhelming.”

“This was the second fundraiser which was organised by one of our branch members Dodi Beardshaw.”

“Dodi is a Samaritans Listening volunteer. Herself members of her family and friends got together. They sang carols and Christmas songs for two hours on .”

“We really were again struck by the incredible generosity of passers-by. Many of the singers were from choirs so the generosity of passers-by may have been influenced.”

“As a result of their efforts, we raised a staggering total of £795. This money will help fund the work we do in Beverley, Hull and the wider East Riding of Yorkshire.”
