An exhibition of stunning travel images by East Yorkshire photographer, Andrew Chandler, takes place in Skidby this coming Easter weekend following his four month trip around the world.

In 2017, Andrew set off on his epic journey by starting at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London with the objective of photographing the people, landscapes and wildlife as he circumnavigated the global – returning 118 days later, once again to the prime meridian.

“Even though I’ve trekked previously in Nepal, nothing quite prepared me for the assault on my senses on arrival in India, my first destination – made even more special by the diffuse light and colour,” said Andrew.

Whilst in South East Asia, Andrew visited Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia, travelling down the Mekong River and exploring some of the world’s most iconic places.

In the Australian Outback, he found himself in a race against time, attempting to avoid cyclone Debbie as it threatened the Queensland coast. And in the national parks of America, amongst the big vistas and vast skies of the southern United States, he was blessed with witnessing normally barren and unforgiving deserts in full spring bloom.

“A stopover in Iceland, before returning to Greenwich, helped me to complete ‘the circle’. The next challenge has been trying to choose the best images from nearly 12,000 taken throughout the trip to represent my time behind the lens”, added Andrew.

The exhibition, at Skidby Village Hall (HU16 5TG), East Yorkshire, runs from Friday 30th March until Monday 2nd April inclusive, 10.00am until 6.00pm daily. Admission is free.
