The Beverley Building Society have named the Charity of the Month for May 2017 as Guide Dogs Hull Mobility Team.

Based in Beverley, their dedicated team of supporters and staff work to deliver a range of mobility services, whether it’s training guide dog partnerships, empowering people through My Guide, or supporting young people and their families.

Guide Dogs user Maurice Thomlinson and his dog Flint came into the Society to collect the £250 donation and discuss how Guide Dogs has helped him.

Maurice said: “Having Flint has changed my life. I cycled for 70 years and up until applying to get Flint I could rarely get out, now I can go out with Flint for walks and on days out and loads of people talk to me because of having Flint with me”

“I help to fundraise a lot with Guide Dogs because of the impact Flint has had on my life, having dogs with us really help us to collect. We raise money to train more dogs – each dog costs a total of £50,000 to train fully”.

Sophie Mozley, Cashier at the Society said: “Guide Dogs Mobility Team is such a worthy charity to win our donation. Having a guide dog improves the quality of life of so many people”.
