College Launches Online Languages Learning

has launched an innovative online platform for teaching languages to learners across the globe.

Face-to-Face Language pairs learners with qualified and experienced tutors who conduct one-to-one sessions via Skype video calling.

It means that students can benefit from individually tailored tutoring at a time that is convenient to them from the comfort of their own home or in any location where they can receive a strong enough mobile internet signal.

Spanish tutor said: “This is a major step forward in our ability to open up our language teaching to learners in new locations and outside of the traditional College day.

“The aim of Face-to-Face Language is to provide teaching that suits the individual in locations and at times that fit in with their lifestyle, even if that means 30 minutes at your desk during your lunch break.”

She added:

“This is an excellent opportunity for additional support with GCSE or A-level language exams and is ideal for speaking test practice to increase your grade, or individual exam preparation.”

“The booking arrangements are really flexible so people can book a one-off session, a series of half-hour sessions, a short intensive course before a trip or a series of regular weekly lessons.”

The dedicated website has been created by web designer Dominic Kelly, who studied digital media at the College before going on to Staffordshire University.

Learners will be able to register for free or sign-in using their Facebook account and will then be able to select a suitable tutor and arrange a tailored learning plan, with payment via PayPal or Pingit.

Lessons can be booked with ease directly through the website and learners will be able to discuss lesson content through email contact with the tutor prior to booking.

Dominic said:

“Having lived in Switzerland for several years, languages are very important to me on a personal level.”

“I’m very proud that I have had the opportunity to develop this website because I believe that it makes learning a foreign language much more accessible and convenient for people.”
