Bishop Burton College Host Historic Hull RUFC Match

Bishop Burton College is to host and sponsor an historic match this Saturday between and Harrogate. It is the first home fixture in Hull’s 21-year history not to be staged on their home soil.

The showcase event is to acknowledge the successful partnership between the college and the club and the flourishing Academy programme it has led to.

Hull face tough opposition in recently promoted Harrogate in the National League 2 North game (3pm) and the match promises to be nail-biting, with both teams needing their first win of the season.

Spectators are welcome to attend the match at Bishop Burton College. Admission for children under 16 is free and transport is available to and from the Ferens ground in Hull.

Chris Murphy, chairman of rugby at Hull RUFC, speaking about the partnership with the college, said:

“The benefits are huge – it works well for both parties. Young people getting an can also play and train in a quality, professional environment.

“The partnership is vital to us as a club, with access to up-and-coming players. We have current and ex-Bishop students in the side. With our coaches working together, it helps progress both organisations.

“The partnership is getting stronger year on year, we are one team, we train together and we’re in this together. I’d encourage people to come and watch for an entertaining afternoon of rugby, and to support your community club.”
