Spruce Header Earns Rangers Semi Final Place

progressed through to the semi finals against with a performance that was well below their best and only just enough to see off an opposition that sit 2nd from bottom in the same league table as them.

Moley paraded their new signing Jimmy Moore before the game but as he was ineligible he was forced to watch a poor first half from the stands.   Molescroft survived a scare with Riston scoring in the first half only for the ref to correctly chalk it off for offside.

The second half saw an improvement from Molescroft and after threatening to score from a series of long throws from forward Tony “T Bone” Walker they finally went ahead with top scorer Spruce getting the all important touch from another long bomb for his 28th of a remarkable season scoring in all but one of games so far.

The remainder of the half should have seen Moley extend the lead but a mix of poor finishing and good defending saw the score remain one nil.  With time running out Riston had one last chance to level but a well struck free kick was well saved by Bryce to ensure his team progressed into the semis.

Final Score: Molescroft Rangers 1 Long Riston Reserves 0
