Beverley Athletic Club say they are excited to announce the news that Olympic gold and bronze medal-winning rower Phelan Hill MBE will be competing in the 25th running of the Pittaway Beverley 10k road race, on Sunday 13 May 2018.
As cox, Phelan steered the Mens Eight to bronze at the London 2012 Olympics and onto gold in Rio 2016. He has also coxed the Mens Eights to three successive rowing World Championship golds.
Friends and family celebrated the life of Lee Morley, a good friend of Beverley Rugby Club who, sadly passed away last year.
Proceedings from the match and lunch raised over £3000 to be donated to Ward 29 at Castle Hill hospital at the request of Lee’s family in thanks for the care given to Lee during his extended time there.
Beverley and East Riding golf club is set to receive over £26,000 to restore the Westwood’s iconic 200 year old Anti Mill, from a pot of cash paid by developers to support recreation and leisure projects.
Last March, East Riding ward Councillor, Denis Healy, encouraged local community clubs to come forward to bid for the money, known as “Commuted Sums,” which is earmarked for leisure and recreation projects.
Councillor Denis Healy has launched a consultation with people living on the site of the former Westwood Hospital.
The consultation has come about after some local residents contacted him calling for a Controlled Parking Zone to stop members of the public from parking outside their houses and restricting access for residents.
