East Yorkshire Judo Academy had three players attend the Home Nation judo tournaments with the English Open in the Cadet age band.
Mason Campbell was fighting in the -66kg category and whilst Mason put up a couple of good fights it wasn’t to be his day and was knocked out of the competition in the early stages.
The weekend saw the final major competition on the judo calendar for 2019, the British Championships for -21’s and for seniors.
Representing East Yorkshire Judo Academy was Sean Tooby, Holly Bentham and Tommy Jackson. For Sean and Holly, Saturday wasn’t to be their day with both players fighting well but not able to progress past the first round of 3 fights.
East Yorkshire Judo Academy was out in force at the Goole Christmas Championships with many of their very young players competing.
For a number of players, it was their first competition. The club was very well represented by children as young as 6 years old all the way through to senior black belts.
East Yorkshire Judo Academy accepted an invite by Klungsbacka Judoklubb to travel to Sweden for a weekend of competition and training.
The team of 7 players aged between 12 and 17 years old and along with 2 of EYJA’s coaches, made the trip to compete at the Gothenburg Open Judo Tournament. Klungsbacka Judo offered superb hospitality allowing the East Yorkshire squad to stay at their club.
East Yorkshire Judo Academy recently had five of their players representing England at the Commonwealth Judo Championships.
The club would have been proud to have one player there. However, to have five players competing is a testament to the dedication of all the players within the club and also the abilities of the coaching staff to train athletes to such a high standard.
The East Yorkshire Judo Academy took four players to this year’s British Championships in Sheffield.
First to compete was Logan Campbell who performed superbly in winning three contests in his first venture into the Cadet category before finally bowing out.
London 2012 Olympic gymnastics bronze medallist ,three time world champion and Dancing on Ice star, Beth Tweddle, was the honoured guest at the Schools Sports Awards
A quintet of East Yorkshire Judo Academy players journeyed south to the Heart of England Judo national ranking Championships, held in the Midlands Area.
Following her recent silver medal at the London Open ranking event, East Yorkshire Judo Academy player, Holly Bentham, made her debut in a senior competition at Goole Leisure Centre last weekend.
St Helens in the North West of England was the venue for the third out of a total of six ranking events of the 2013/14 season, last weekend. The East Yorkshire Judo Academy sent a strong selection of seven players to contest for honours.
