Young Voters Matter – Hassan Bassam ‘Labour’s Policies Reflect My Beliefs’

Hassan Bassam, a former Longcroft School pupil who went on to achieve a BA in Mathematics & Astrophysics at Cambridge University says Labour best reflect his views.

Speaking about the upcoming general election, Mr. Bassam who is 22-years old says he will be voting Labour raising concerns over the poverty and health.

Mr. Bassam who is voted in the last election and the EU Referendum said;

“I will be voting for Labour. Labour’s policies reflect my beliefs, which are that we should live in a fairer society where the rich pay their due contributions and the poor don’t have to rely on food banks.”

“Multiple sectors, rail, energy, housing among others are being abused by large corporations, landlords, foreign investors leading to higher costs and a lower standard of living for British people.”

“I also believe the conservatives are leading the NHS to its death which is something that would not let happen.”

“Finally, despite his flaws, I believe Jeremy Corbyn to be a good person who genuinely wants to improve the lives of people in the UK. I can’t say I believe the same about his main opponent, Theresa May.”

Mr. Bassam also raised concerns regarding the current state of the UK saying the media moguls of the world are manipulating people for their own benefit, he said;

“I feel worried about the country’s future. I worry that the country is dividing and that ordinary people are blaming other ordinary people for the problems that exist in our country.”

“In reality I believe the likes of Murdoch, with the power/influence he holds, together with his friends in the Tory party are shaping the country to sustain their own wealth and power at the expense of the ordinary citizen.”

The UK will get to have their say on 8 June after the Prime Minster called a snap election. While she feels the result is ‘in the bag’ polls show that the gap is closing.

Residents of the UK have until the 22 May to register to vote and can do so in just a few minutes online by clicking here.
