Winning in the Rain : Beverley Brush Aside Hornsea at Norwood

Football Club earned their first win in after they beat Hornsea Town at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Beverley never looked in any real trouble taking the lead through Jamie Cording who bundle the ball home after the keeper could only parry an effort from Rob Northen.

Cording again found the back of the net to double Beverley’s lead with a rocket of a shot from 30 yards that found the top corner.

Town extended their lead to three goals when Northen latched onto a long ball to score with a looping header. Northern again found the net early in the second half, finishing from close range to seal the victory.

Speaking after the match, manager Ross Cording said;

“It was fantastic first half performance. In a game like that it is hard to single out anyone but when you bring quality in you get quality.”

“Northern , Foster and Cording brought great experience mixed with youth throughout.”

Cording did however praise young right back Harry Stanforth who played a solid 90 minutes defending well and also causing Hornsea plenty of headaches with his attacking play, Cording said;

“I want to give a special mention to Stanforth, he never put a foot wrong. Keegan Rose, along with did well in keeping the tempo high.”

Cording feels the difference between the sides was the quality in Beverley’s youth players, he said;

“There was a little lacking but our mixture was good blend of youth and experience. Even Jamie is 4 years at the club at 20 years old. The result made the sun shine on a rainy day.”

It was a big day for Beverley’s new keeper . The Egyptian never put a foot wrong dealing with anything that came his way. Cording was delighted with his debut in testing conditions, commenting on Attia he said;

“Clean sheets win games , he had safe hands all game. Attia has never played in the rain before, selection problems are good problems to have. I am very happy with him.”

The win sees Beverley move off the bottom up to seventh spot in the Humber Premier League. This Saturday Beverley will hit the road as they take on AFC Rovers.

Final Score: Beverley Town Football Club 4 Hornsea Town 0
