Tribfest is Having a Laugh

, the country’s leading Tribute festival is branching out further in 2011 with the addition of the Laughing Cow Comedy Marquee.

Not only does the festival have over 80 musical acts but also twenty two comedians as well to bring further fun to the festival weekend of August 19th-21st at

The Laughing Cow Comedy Marquee will be running through the weekend and includes dozens of comedians of both national repute and local talent looking to establish themselves in the comedy scene.

The three headline are Danny Deegan on Friday, Roy Kane on Saturday and Simon Bligh on Sunday evening.

Danny Deegan has performed for around ten years and a very funny man who played almost every comedy club around the UK and performed in a number of stand up shows on both ITV and the BBC.

Ray Kane headlines the Saturday evening and he was the 2006 City Life Comedian of the year at the Manchester Comedy Store.

Sunday headliner Simon Bligh is one of the leading and most in demand comedians in Britain and beyond. With a Time Out Comedy Award and Perrier Award nomination under his black belt, Simon’s chirpy, conversational mix of high-energy storytelling and acute observational humour has won him stand-up comedy fans the world over.

A long-time compere at The Comedy Store in London and more recently at the all-conquering Comedy Club up and down the country, Simon Bligh’s comedy has a universal and international appeal, so much so that he was asked to he represent the cream of the UK’s comic talent by co-headlining the the Cutting Edge of British Comedy tour of Australia

The marquee is coordinated by the Legendary John Marshall the main man behind The Buzz Comedy Club in Manchester , which ran for fifteen years from 1989 to 2004. John compered the club as Agraman the human anagram. This became at the time the longest-running comedy club outside London , and was frequently voted the best comedy club in Britain , crucially also voted the best by the acts themselves!

John was one of the people who gave stars such as Alan Carr and Peter Kay their early opportunities and this support was acknowledged within Peter Kay’s autobiography

Event Director Ed Faulkner is excited by this new development “Comedy has become almost an essential element to major music festivals and as we strive to improve the Tribfest experience we decided to bring comedy to the event. By having John involved we have involved someone at the heartbeat of the comedy scene and someone who has provided a range of talented up and coming comedians. We anticipate that festival fans will have the opportunity to enjoy high quality entertainment via the comedy stage or musicians’
