After a summer of hard work, Freedom Five have won a trip to Flamingo Land as runners up in Humberside Police’s Lifestyle Project.

Freedom Five consisted of five Beverley girls whose project aim was to get kids off technology. The girls Millie, Laura, Chloe, Holly and Aimee had fun raising funds throughout their school holidays.

Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Events At Paragon Interchange

Humberside Police are teaming up British Transport Police and other local partners as part of a campaign to raise awareness about child sexual exploitation and identify children at risk.

As of Wednesday 15 March officers from both forces will be taking the opportunity to educate young people in stations with information about the signs and risks, in the hope that this will arm them with the knowledge to protect themselves from being susceptible to the risk of grooming.

Over £60,000 Seized From Former Deep Retail Manager

A former retail manager who stole £89,000 from The Deep to fund his gambling addiction has been ordered to pay back more than £60,000 to the charity.

Jason Metcalfe, 45, of Hamlyn Avenue, Hull, stole the cash from two ‘penny press’ machines and put fake refunds through the tills of the gift shop.

Joint Investigation To Take Place Following House Fire On Beverley Road

Humberside Police were called by Humberside Fire and Rescue Service at 6.23am today (Friday 10 March) requesting assistance with road closures following a serious house fire and subsequent explosion on Beverley Road, Hull.

A man from the property has been taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. Three fire officers are believed to have sustained minor injuries.

The incident happened on the footpath between Midway Avenue and St John’s Avenue, at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 14 when two men blocked and tried to tip her out of her chair.

Panel Supports Commissioner’s Proposal To Raise Police Precept

Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner Keith Hunter presented his proposals to raise the portion of council tax used to pay for policing, known as the police precept, to the Humberside Police and Crime Panel. The panel voted unanimously in favour of an increase of 1.99%.

The Commissioner proposed the precept increase for 2017/18, meaning the amount paid on a typical Band D property would rise by around 7p per week from £183.67 to £187.33 for the year.
