In its tenth year, Screwfix is proud to announce that its Britain’s Top Tradesperson competition is now open, and plumbers, electricians, builders and carpenters from Beverley can put themselves forward for the top prize.

The annual competition by Screwfix aims to celebrate the outstanding work and professionalism of UK tradespeople, resulting in one exceptional individual winning a £20k trade bundle, comprising of £10k worth of tools, £5k tech and £5k to go towards future training.

East Riding Theatre Shortlisted By White Rose Awards

East Riding Theatre in Beverley, East Yorkshire have been named as a finalist in the 2019 White Rose Awards, the largest tourism awards ceremony in the UK.  

The theatre is in the Arts and Culture category, and it is the first time they have been up for such a prestigious award. This marks a significant achievement for this small professional theatre that opened in late 2014 that is run by volunteers from the local community.

Entrants have been challenged to address different themes over the years, such as women’s rights, history and the city of Hull but this year, the competition is challenging writers to get romantic and create a story in the form of a love letter.
