Pupils at a Beverley primary school are set to go to the polls this week as part of a pilot scheme to introduce children to the electoral process.
On Friday, 6 July children from St John of Beverley RC Primary School will hold a mock election to bring to an end a project run in conjunction with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s electoral services and the Hull and East Riding Children’s University about democracy and the importance of having the right to vote.
Pupils from St John of Beverley RC Primary School were given an insight into the what takes to be a fire fighter thanks to the Hull and East Riding Children’s University.
Students from the school in Beverley spent the day with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service at their Calvert Lane Station.
A Beverley primary school is to open its gates to the public so they can view their award-winning gardens. On Saturday, July 6, people will be able to wander through the stunning gardens in the grounds of St John of Beverley RC Primary School.
