Local School Spend Day With Humberside Fire & Rescue Service

Pupils from St John of Beverley RC Primary School were given an insight into the what takes to be a fire fighter thanks to the Hull and East Riding Children’s University.

Students from the school in Beverley spent the day  with at their Calvert Lane Station.

Their visit proved to be a big hit with the pupils, with the school describing the day as tremendous as they got access to new experiences

, East Riding Manager of Hull and East Riding Children’s University said;

“We would like to thank the team at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service for bringing learning to life for the children of St John of Beverley Primary School.”

“The children took part in a wide variety of activities during the day which increased children’s confidence through teamwork and communication tasks.”

“Aspirations were also raised by meeting some fantastic role models from Humberside Fire and Rescue as they learnt about all of the different job roles and received some hands-on experience too.”

“Many of the children said they had the best day ever and we look forward to building upon our work with St John of Beverley RC Primary School.”

, Head Teacher at St John of Beverley RC Primary School speaking about the day said;

“What a tremendous day we had at the Fire Station. The children found the visit truly inspirational and aspirational.”

“The day allowed all of our children to access learning and experiences that we would not have managed in the classroom and came away from the day with a sound knowledge of the work of Humberside Fire and Rescue, and the part that every individual can play in keeping themselves and others safe.”

“Staff and children of St John of Beverley Primary School would like to say a huge thank you to the men and women at the Calvert Lane Station and to Lisa Whitton and the Mentors from the Hull and East Riding Children’s University.”

“We can’t wait for our next collaboration.”
