Hull Residents Invited To A Day Of Tree-Mendous Fun

Hull City Council is inviting people to “branch out” and take part in a free, fun-filled activity day of tree planting at a city woodland as part of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Members of the public are invited to take part in woodland planting, bushcraft, foraging, den building and other tree-related crafts tomorrow on Tuesday 22 February, from 9am to 4pm.

Beverley Town Football Club’s dream of gaining promotion to the Northern Counties East League took a huge step forward this week thanks to significant investment from local company Cranswick PLC.

The club has been raising funds to enable them to apply for a grant from The Football Foundation, which in turn will allow them to install floodlights and make improvements at their Norwood ground.

The head of a leading engineering training business says his organisation is “fighting with one hand tied behind our back” because of a lack of funding to support its work with learners and employers.

Iain Elliot, Chief Executive of Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA) said the government should seize the opportunity presented by the new Skills and Post-16 Education Bill to channel more funding to independent providers, and particularly to Group Training Associations (GTAs).

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is supporting a closed road motor rally heading for East Yorkshire when Beverley & District Motor Club host the East Riding Stages at the end of February.

The event, running on 27 February 2022, follows in the footsteps of the successful Clacton Rally which first ran in 2018 after Motorsport UK gave the green light for competitive events to take place on closed public roads.

With more than 300 people, including more than 40 children*, waiting for a heart transplant this Valentine’s Day, NHS Blood and Transplant is calling on families to have a heart-to-heart about organ donation.

While heart transplants have continued throughout the pandemic, with only 7% less in 2020/21 compared to the year before, the waiting list for a heart transplant has risen 85% in the last decade, from 169 patients in March 2012 to 313 in March 2021. It is more important than ever that families share their decisions around organ donation to save more lives.
