Kite Festival To See Spirits Soar In Bridlington This Weekend

The weekend (Saturday, 6 and Sunday, 7 May) will see the sky over Sewerby Fields, in Bridlington, awash with colourful kites as part of a two-day festival.

Hosted by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Bridlington Tourism Association (BTA) and the Northern Kite Group, the event, subject to reasonable wind and weather conditions, will see a number of internationally-renowned experts put on a display to entertain local residents and visitors to the resort.

It’s almost time for ArtWaves to make a return to Bridlington Spa with a vibrant programme of art on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May.

Over fifty works from the private collection of Nicholas and Frances McDowall will go at on display at Beverley Art Gallery in the Treasure House on Saturday, 6 May.

The exhibition will include engravings by William Blake and Samuel Palmer – the 19th century father figures of the neo-romantic movement – and feature works by leading 20th century artists including Michael Ayrton, Edward Bawden, John Piper and Graham Sutherland.
