New Play Lads & Lasses Commissioned Especially For LGBT 50

A new play that has been specially commissioned by Pride in Hull explores what it means to be a young LGBT person in the city.

Based on real-life, local stories, Lads & Lasses has been written by Aidan Thompson-Coates of Hull-based ApposArts and will be performed for the first time on Monday 24 July at Fruit in Humber Street as part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017’s LGBT 50 programme, a celebration of LGBT+ culture across the arts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council will be placing yellow signs on the verges of main roads with a clear message to drivers to ‘Take Your Litter Home’.

Their first tournament win came in May at Tadcaster near Leeds. Having won the group stages they had to overcome the host team in the semi-finals and after an early goal, comfortably held out to reach the final against Pontefract.

New Interpretation Board Tells The Story Of The Chalk Tower At Flamborough

The famous chalk tower at Flamborough Head now boasts a new interpretation board, funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in association with the Friends of the Chalk Tower.

The new board tells the story of the history of the tower, which was built in 1674 as a lighthouse by Sir John Clayton and George Blake. The tower contains 98 steps to the top.
