The Treasure House in Beverley will host an illustrated talk by Barbara English and Margaret Pinder: ‘Speaking the landscape: the road to Hull’s Beverley Gate in 1642′ will explore the road from Beverley to Hull’s Beverley Gate in 1642. The talk will be on Wednesday 26 July from 2pm-4pm.

Maps of Hull and the East Riding of the 16th and 17th centuries, plans of great interest newly discovered in national collections, together with travellers’ descriptions and government records, show different aspects of Hull and Beverley in the years leading up to the Civil Wars.

Major Roadworks On C8 North Cave – Market Weighton Road

As part of the council’s programme of highway maintenance works, essential carriageway improvement works along the C8 road between North Cave and Market Weighton will begin on Monday, 17 July, 2017, and will take approximately 20 weeks to complete.

The road will be closed 24 hours a day for the full duration of the scheme, because of the nature of the work involved, and to allow a safe working environment for the workforce. The works will be carried out by C R Reynolds Ltd. on behalf of the council.
