Beverley Racecourse Launches Pioneering Skin Cancer Awareness Campaign

Beverley Racecourse has announced a ground-breaking partnership with Yorkshire Cancer Research to raise awareness of the dangers of sun damage and over-exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays.

The campaign aims to protect racegoers and racecourse staff during the rest of the season following the recent hot spell which saw the UK record its hottest June day for 41 years.

Dog owners updating their pet’s microchip details online are being warned to check the website they are using is genuine after a number of bogus sites have been discovered.

Bogus sites came to the attention of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s dog warden team after they issued a notice to a dog owner informing them they were breaking the law as the details on the microchip were not up to date.

Beverley Town Council, in association with the National Gardens Scheme (NGS), is holding an Open Allotments Day on Sunday 9th July from 12 noon until 4pm on the Queensgate and Kitchen Lane allotment sites.

The event, which is included in the NGS ‘Yellow Book’, is open to local residents, visitors and anyone with an interest in allotments and growing their own produce. This year will be the sixth time that the event has been held in the town.

The partnership is currently one of only 21 Arts Council Major Partner Museums in England.

Arts Council England has announced the next wave of funding to support arts, culture and libraries sector across the country and has awarded the Humber Museums Partnership £3.9m over the next four years between 2018 – 2022.

Beverley Grammar School Trio Reach National Final

Will Day, Isaac Bullough and Joseph Officer represented Beverley Grammar school at the regional final of the Foreign Language Translation Bee Tuesday 6 June at Sheffield Hallam University in their chosen language of French.

Following the regional event Beverley Grammar School Boys Adam Roberts (13), Lewis Matthews (13) and Nathan Thorp (13) are German finalists now through to the National Final which will be taking place on Monday 3rd July at Cambridge University no less.
