Maps of Hull and the East Riding of the 16th and 17th centuries, plans of great interest newly discovered in national collections, together with travellers’ descriptions and government records, show different aspects of Hull and Beverley in the years leading up to the Civil Wars.

Major Roadworks On C8 North Cave – Market Weighton Road

As part of the council’s programme of highway maintenance works, essential carriageway improvement works along the C8 road between North Cave and Market Weighton will begin on Monday, 17 July, 2017, and will take approximately 20 weeks to complete.

The road will be closed 24 hours a day for the full duration of the scheme, because of the nature of the work involved, and to allow a safe working environment for the workforce. The works will be carried out by C R Reynolds Ltd. on behalf of the council.

The popular winter lets scheme – which allows people to hire the council’s chalets in Bridlington and Hornsea during the winter months – is now available again for winter 2017/ 2018. Chalets are already selling out fast.

The chalets will be available from 23 September, 2017, to 10 March, 2018 and prices start at £225 and go to £320 for the whole period, depending on the individual chalet.
