Jack Howdle Hat-Trick Helps Beverley Register First Win Of New Season

The blue and golds kick-started their season with this win which was harder work than the scoreline suggests. Barrow Island arrived in town looking to extend a seven-game winning run stretching back to last July but the hosts had other ideas.  

Barrow looked to blow the opposition away very early on and raced to an 18-0 lead in only 11 minutes. Jack Howdle forced his way over from close range quickly followed by a try from dummy half by Tom Moor.

Beware the ides of March.  But not this week.  After the dismal affair a week ago at Dinnington Beverley were back on top form securing another outstanding bonus point win – the seventh in their last eight games. 

Crossleyans started the match only one point behind Beverley but never really got a look-in and Beverley comfortably cruised home scoring six tries in the process all of which Phil Duboulay converted in difficult conditions.

Schoolchildren in Beverley have teamed up with East Riding Theatre (ERT) and a local artist to create a mural celebrating some of Yorkshire’s most trailblazing women.

Working with ERT’s all-female company in residence, She Productions, and artist Emma Garness, pupils from Molescroft, Keldmarsh, Tickton, and St Mary’s primary schools have created a mural depicting the Yorkshire Rose based on the achievements of the inspirational women.

Safer Sleep Week Roadshow To Take Place In Beverley

Safer Sleep Week is an annual campaign run by the Lullaby Trust to raise awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and the safer sleep advice that reduces the risk of it occurring.  Sadly, around five babies a week in the UK die from SIDS.

This year, the focus of Safer Sleep Week is on co-sleeping.  It is estimated that by the age of three months half of all babies born in England and Wales will have slept in an adult bed with one or both parents, whether intended or not.
