Spot Checks On Supermarket Covid Safety

A new drive to keep customers and employees safe in Hull’s supermarkets will see Coronavirus safety checks carried out by the council’s Public Protection Team and Covid Marshals.

Officers will visit supermarkets and similar shops, and assess whether measures in place are adequate. Those who fail to meet the necessary safety standards will be told they must improve, and advice will be given.

East Riding Archives is asking residents to contribute their recorded experiences of the COVID-19 period into a growing collection of memories, which will be preserved for the benefit of future generations.

The archives team are looking for digital, written and printed items such as diaries detailing life under COVID-19 restrictions; photographs of people’s daily lives; poems and stories; and any recordings of thanks for NHS and key workers.

Once the largest dock of its kind in the country, sections of the original dock edge walls of Queens Dock are set to be unearthed for the first time in 60 years this month as part of a £4.3m city centre project.

The sections of the dock edge were last seen in the 1960s when the gardens were remodelled to a design created by the renowned architect and town planner, Sir Frederick Gibberd.
