Beverley Runners Complete Woldsman 50-mile Challenge

Four ultra-distance athletes from Beverley Athletic Club competed in the Woldsman 50-mile Challenge Event last Saturday. Organised by the East Yorkshire Branch of the Long Distance Walkers Association, competitors can choose to run or walk. Starting and finishing at Driffield Show Ground and following a route through Sledmere, Wharram Percy, Thixendale, Givendale, Huggate and Wetwang, the event demands stamina, determination and navigation skills. Walkington Cricket Club despite a bad start, Walkington captain Ben Gardiner went for duck though the home side dug in and beat Gilberdyke Cricket Club by 83 runs. Beverley Get Two Top Ten Finishes in the Horsea Marathon

The Hornsea 1/3 Marathon attracted a record entry this year and raised much needed funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. 271 runners completed the 8.7 mile road race organised by the Rotary Club of Hornsea and East Riding.
