HULL’S BIG SEND SHOWDOWN: Families Urged to Grab Life-Changing Advice at Mega Event!

A major city-centre takeover is set to bring hope, guidance and big decisions to families across Hull this month—because Hull City Council is rolling out its much-anticipated annual SEND event!

Mark your calendars: on Wednesday 22 April, the ground floor of Princes Quay will transform into a buzzing hub of opportunity from 10am to 5pm. And this isn’t just any information day—it’s the FIFTH year of what insiders are calling a “must-attend lifeline” for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Open to students from Year 9 and above, the event promises to be bigger than ever, with more than 40 organisations descending on the venue. Experts from education, health, social care and charities will all be under one roof—ready to answer burning questions and reveal the pathways available after school.

From college courses to training schemes and even supported internships, there’s a world of options waiting to be explored. For many families, it’s a rare chance to get straight-talking advice and real clarity about what comes next.

Throughout the day, schools from across the city will be arriving with groups of students, creating a lively, energetic atmosphere. But organisers stress this isn’t just for schools—parents, carers and young people can drop in whenever they like.

And the mission? Nothing less than changing futures.

Council chiefs say the event is all about making sure every young person—no matter their challenges—gets the chance to thrive in adult life. That means access to the right support, the right guidance and the confidence to take the next step.

Top official Mary Meredith didn’t hold back, calling it a “fantastic opportunity” for families to get ahead and make informed choices.

Behind the scenes, there’s also a push to get more people plugged into ongoing help through the Hull Local SEND Offer—a key resource many still don’t know about.

With big decisions looming for hundreds of young people, this one-day event could make all the difference.

Miss it? You might miss out on the future.
