East Yorkshire Buses Announces Major Fare Changes from March 2026

East Yorkshire Buses has announced a wide-ranging update to its fares and ticketing structure, aimed at simplifying travel, improving value, and introducing more flexible options for customers.

The changes will come into effect from Sunday 29 March 2026.

Simpler Zones, Better Value

As part of the update, the number of fare zones across the network will be significantly reduced to make ticketing easier to understand.

Zones being withdrawn include:

  • Hull Country
  • Bridlington Country
  • Coaster
  • Caves/Gilberdyke
  • Hornsea
  • Withernsea
  • York Country
  • Beverley
  • Driffield

Customers in these areas will now be able to use a newly priced Go Anywhere ticket, with adult day tickets starting from just £9.

Examples of new pricing:

  • Bridlington Country Zone: £11.60 → £9
  • Coaster Zone: £14.70 → £9
  • Hornsea Zone: £11.90 → £9
  • Withernsea Zone: £12.20 → £9
  • Caves/Gilberdyke Zone: £9.60 → £9
  • Hull Country Zone: Same price, but with extended travel area
  • York Country Zone: £12 → £9 (simplified and better value)

The updated network will now operate with five clearer zones:

  • Hull
  • Bridlington
  • Scarborough
  • York
  • Go Anywhere

New Flexible Ticket Options

Alongside the simplified fare structure, several new ticket types are being introduced:

  • Duo Ticket – better value for two people travelling together
  • Group Day Ticket – covers up to four people, ideal for families and friends
  • 20 Single Ticket Bundle – priced at £57, offering discounted travel compared to the £3 capped single fare

These options are designed to make both everyday travel and group trips more affordable and convenient.

Focus on Flexibility and Affordability

Stuart Fillingham, Commercial Director at East Yorkshire Buses, said the changes are focused on making travel simpler while delivering better value:

  • Many customers will now be able to travel further for the same price or less
  • New ticket types offer greater flexibility for frequent passengers
  • Group and duo tickets make social and family travel more affordable

He also noted that this is the company’s first network-wide fare revision since January 2025, with efforts made to keep prices as stable as possible despite wider cost pressures.
