Beverley MP Graham Stuart Sorry To See PM Liz Truss Resign From Post

Graham Stuart MP who represents residents in Beverley, East Yorkshire says he is sorry to see Liz Truss resign as Prime Minister.

Ms Truss became the shortest-serving Prime Minister quitting after just 45 days in office.

In a statement issued by the MP for Beverley and Holderness he said:

“I am sorry to see the Prime Minister resign.”

 “When she entered , the Prime Minister set out a vision for a low tax, high growth economy to make our country an aspiration nation.”

“ During her time in office, she delivered on her promise of reversing the National Insurance increase and introduced the Energy Prices Bill to give families and businesses the support they need with their energy bills.”

 “I have been proud to serve during her Premiership as Minister for Climate working to deliver the Government’s positive vision to achieve our aim of making the UK Net Zero by 2050.”

 “I will support the next leader of in their work to provide security and stability for the country, and I wish the Prime Minister and her family the very best for the future.”

Mr Stuart is a big supporter of Ms Truss. He backed her leadership campaign, a loyalty that was rewarded with a job in the cabinet.

Mr Stuart declared his support for his Ms Truss. Just six weeks ago. He posted on his official Facebook Page:

‘Liz Truss is someone who gets things done. She has got a clear vision, she’s tremendously hard-working and under her leadership, we will deliver the best outcomes for my constituents in Beverley and Holderness and the whole of the UK.’

Just days after making the MP made that post Ms Truss wrecked the UK economy with her ‘mini budget’. 

During her time in office, she has created havoc in the global markets. Millions of homeowners will also now face higher interest rates due to her plans to borrow money to fund tax cuts.

Liz Truss Should Refuse Allowance

Ms Truss herself is now under pressure not to take an allowance worth £115,000 PA

Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey said she should not claim the money. 

“Most people have to work at least 35 years to get a full state pension,” Mr Davey told LBC radio. “I think working 45 days shouldn’t give you a pension that is many many times what ordinary people out there get after a lifetime of work”

The Conservative Party will now look to appoint a new leader and Prime Minister. They are refusing to go to the country and hold a general election. 

Speaking on BBC Question Time, a solemn Mr Stuart apologised for the fiasco created by his government. He however said he had not decided who he would be backing in the leadership race.
