To celebrate 50 years of Pride in the UK and 21 years in Hull, is hosting a special event for the LGBT+ community and allies, across Hull and East Yorkshire.

Queen’s Gardens on Saturday 30 July, Pride Party in the Park will be an additional event following the Parade and Pride in Hull.

Entertainment on the day will include from Boyzlife, Liberty X and a DJ set from Allsaints’ Mel Blatt. Plus, shows with Drag Race Allstars winner Trinity the Tuck, death-dropping divas, QUEENZ from ITV’s Walk The Line and many more.

Close to the anniversary of the Stonewall riots, the UK’s first Pride march took place on 1 July 1972 with 2,000 attendants. Now millions of people around the world celebrate Pride reflecting on the progress made and this year Pride seeks to focus on what the next 50 years will look like for the Community.

Pride in Hull Chair, Jamie Lewis says:

“Our theme this year is ‘back together again’. As the pandemic put celebrations on hold, we have a lot of catching up to do and as any 21-year-old does, we are celebrating this major milestone in our journey.

“Events will look at some of the key advancements of LGBT+ rights in the UK and highlight “dreams for the next 50 years”, including a ban on conversion therapy and an ongoing campaign for rights for transgender people.

“Pride-revellers have told us they want more. This included cabaret-style entertainment with more adult content. So this year we are able to give people what they want.

“The Pride Parade begins at 11:00 in , outside Hull College. Then on to West Park for Pride in Hull until 17:30, followed by Pride Party in the Park until 21:30.”

Nathan Greenfield, also Trustee of Pride in Hull says:

“Pride in Hull is well supported by local organisations who sponsor the free event. Pride Party in the Park is self-sufficient and therefore tickets have been made available to cover our costs.

“We love the fact that the LGBT+ community comes out for Pride, bringing along friends and family. It’s a massive event which attracts 50,000 people into the centre of Hull. This year due to works in Queen’s Gardens, the events will be held in West Park, next to the MKM Stadium. It provides a great space with plenty of room for stages, tents, stalls and of course, room for dancing.

“Please watch this space on our social media for announcements of further plans and tickets as they become available.”
