Two Yorkshire family farming businesses have collaborated to create recipes that celebrate Yorkshire produce.

The team at Thixendale based Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil has created a series of recipes using chicken from business, to celebrate provenance.

Recipes include Spatchcock Chicken with Fennel and Roasted Veggies, Salt and Pepper Chicken and Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Gnocchi.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil’s Marketing Manager, Jennie Palmer explained the rationale for the recipe creation:

“Here at YRO, we’re passionate about spreading the word about fabulous Yorkshire producers.”

“Over the years we have found that the best way to do this is to create recipes that encourage people to try the fabulous food that we have on our doorstep.

“Soanes Poultry is just a 20-minute drive away over the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, so is quite literally on our doorstep!  The quality of chicken shines through, both in the cooking and the eating – it’s far superior to supermarket chicken, and tastes amazing.”

“It’s always great to hear that chefs and home cooks can feel the difference as well as taste the difference in the finished dish. We’re looking forward to recreating Jennie’s recipes and making them available to our customers too,” said Soanes Poultry’s MD, Ben Lee.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by the Palmer family on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds.  They produce a range of oils, dressings and mayonnaise-based on their award-winning Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil that is pressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.

Sones Poultry is a fourth-generation family-owned business that has been rearing and preparing chicken since 1947. It sells chicken to butchers and independent retailers in Yorkshire and to wholesalers nationwide.
