Hannah Billingham has been awarded Ceramic Artist of the Year, at the Corporate Live Wire Yorkshire Prestige Awards 2021/22.

The event took place at the prestigious Hazlewood Castle and is awarded based on nominations submitted to a panel of judges.

Members of the judging panel based their decisions on the quality of services and products, innovative practices, value and sustainability.

Hannah said;

“I was over the moon to be honoured with the award of Ceramic Artist of the Year, at the Yorkshire Prestige Awards.”

“It has been an amazing year for me, I’ve worked with some brilliant galleries and had a series of successful online exhibitions.”

“It’s amazing to receive this award as I prepare to move to a bigger studio and create new works in 2022.”

Hannah’s work combines her love for clay, glazes and texture with a desire for order, symmetry and perfection. Her process is a laborious and repetitive discipline done entirely by hand.

Hannah said;

“It is of great importance that every piece I make is an individual, unique, one-of-a-kind treasure. I create sculptures that evoke a reaction in the viewer through their precision and ethereal appearance.”

Hannah describes her work and process as immersive and therapeutic, which provides an opportunity for ‘perfection’.

The honour of being Yorkshire’s Ceramic Artist of the Year is added to Hannah’s other accolades from galleries in England and Wales. Hannah said ‘It is a privilege to share my passion for ceramics by creating works in my Beverley Studio that sell around the globe.

It is a great honour to be recognised as Ceramic Artist of the Year, as I always go the extra mile for my clients, and ensure the best possible service.’

‘The past year has allowed me to develop my practice, and I’ve loved the opportunities to meet collectors at events such as York Ceramics Fair. I am excited to build on this success in the coming year.’
