One of the stand-up tale tellers appearing at The East Yorkshire Theatre on Good Friday 14 April 2017 is having to tell his tale while seated in a mobility scooter.

This “new” performer at the theatre is Patrick Nolan, a local Romany character who lives in a supermarket car park and drives about the town in a electronic vehicle believed to have been a bumper-car in a traveling fair.

He is believed to be very fond of fairground life and used to live on the Market Place when the fair was held annually there.

A number of who have heard him tell his tales before were sought to give their opinion of them, unfortunately they had all left the area after hearing him speak in case he decided to do so again.

We traced down a Mr Paul Thorpe who now resides outside the area and wishes to keep his address secret and asked him if he had ever heard Mr Nolan tell a tale, he was so traumatized by the question that he became mute for four minuets, the longest period ever known for him to keep his mouth shut.

A spokesman from the Vatican said: “On Good Friday we always mourn the death of Christ but this adds another dimension to our sufferings.”
