One of Hull’s largest employers is aiming to recruit the managers of the future through a new partnership with East Riding College.
The Gourmet Sausage Company (Lazenby’s), part of Cranswick Plc, is looking for 14 young and aspiring professionals to learn the ropes in its human resources, accounting and food manufacturing departments, including new product development, technical and operations.
It is an opportunity to join one of the region’s fastest-growing companies and to learn the skills and knowledge essential to building a promising career there.
Jonathan Healy, operations director at the Gourmet Sausage Company, said: “We are looking for bright young people who are ambitious and want a career with one of the region’s leading companies and largest employers.”
Human resources manager Simone James added: “This really is an excellent opportunity for the right people to take the first steps in their working life with a view to progressing into management roles as they develop.
“We are particularly looking for pro-active, positive thinkers with an excellent attitude to work.”

“There has been a very noticeable increase over recent years in the number of ambitious young people who are choosing to go into apprenticeships, rather than go to university.
“By their early 20s, these people can be established in the workplace, qualified and debt free so it’s not surprising this route is becoming more popular.”
Cranswick Gourmet Sausage is the UK’s largest supplier of premium sausages. Over the past four years, the site has grown by 31 per cent with expectations of future growth.
