‘Exploring the Future of Figurative Art’, a talk by the Mall Galleries, will take place on Thursday 14 April at the Treasure House, Beverley, to accompany a ground breaking new exhibition at Beverley Art Gallery.
The exhibition is being presented in partnership with the Mall Galleries in London and showcases the work of talented artists emerging from British Art Schools. Their work explores innovative approaches to figurative art, pushing it into new directions.
Elli Koumousi, Head of Education and Cultural Strategy at the Mall Galleries, will be presenting the talk about the exhibition and the work of these up and coming artists. She will talk about the links between figurative and abstract art and explain how the two are different ways of representing the world around us.
Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said;
“This exhibition and talk are the latest exciting examples of our partnership with the Mall Galleries, and I hope that lots of people will come along to see both the pictures and the talk, and see into the future of figurative art in this country.”
Every year The Federation of British Artists at Mall Galleries sends representatives around the country looking for talented artists with the potential to influence the future of figurative art. The organisation has over 500 member artists and collaborates with another 5,000 artists annually.
The talk is on Thursday 14 April at 6.30pm and will take place in the Education Room at the Treasure House, Champney Road, Beverley, HU17 8HE. Tickets are £5.00 per person and can be booked by calling (01482) 392699 (Monday to Friday) or by calling into the Archives on the first floor of the Treasure House.
