Stick Man – Make Your Own Stick Man Competition

Stick Man – Make Your Own Stick Man Competition

Local children are being invited to take part in the competition that is being held at libraries in the East Riding including Beverley.

Inspired by the recently televised version of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s enchanting story, ‘Stick Man’, are continuing their ‘Make Your Own Stick Man’ competition, with entries open until 23 January.

The enthralling children’s tale follows Stick Man, who lives in the family tree with his Stick Lady Love and their Stick children three, as he heads on an epic adventure across the seasons.

But the world is a dangerous place for a Stick Man. A dog wants to play with him. A swan builds her nest with him. He even ends up on a fire.

Written by The Gruffalo author Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, the story was modified for the small screen by Oscar-nominated entertainment company Magic Light Pictures.

Over nine million people tuned into BBC One to watch the show that was voiced by a stellar cast of British acting talent.

Local children are tasked with creating their very own Stick Man, which could be inspired by anything; a book, a film, even a holiday!

Entries can be submitted until 23 January, and will then be displayed for a public vote.

There will be a prize for the entry with the most votes at each participating library, announced during week commencing 8 February.

The competition is open to primary school children, and sticks must be no longer than 1ft/30cm.
