Flood Advisory Service To Host Special Road Show in Beverley

Beverley To Host Flood Advisory Service Road Show

A Flood Advisory Service road show is coming to Beverley to help educate people how they can do more to protect their homes against flooding.

Taking place over two days on the 14 and 15 January the event will be held in the car park at the store on Beverley.

Shaun Harrison, Humberside Fire & Rescue Service Crew Manager at Beverley Station said;

“This road show will give people the chance to learn more about how they can protect their homes and also see the products that are on the market to help combat flooding.”

“Over recent years in Beverley we have been subjected to flooding so we are very pleased to be holding such an event in the town.”

A spokesperson for the Flood Advisory Service said;

“The road show is designed to provide both free and impartial advice on flooding to the residents of Beverley and the surrounding areas.”

“We have information screens, booklets, flood risk checkers and sample products – homeowners can simply come on board and discuss their concerns over a hot drink.”

“Our 40ft articulated trailer will be at Tesco’s car park in Beverley from 10am – 7pm on Thursday 14th and 10am – 2pm on Friday 15th.”

While the event is being staged in Beverley, it is aimed at the winder area in the East Riding which has seen its fair share of flooding in recent years.

Flooding was a key concern with many households in the region in 2006, 2009 and 2012 though measures that were taken in Beverley seem to have protected the town.

Mr. Harrison added;

“We all saw how with climate change that floods are becoming more common, it was impossible to turn the news on in recent weeks and not see the devastation flooding has caused.”

“Events like this help the community come together and find a voice, so they can raise their concerns with the local authorities putting pressure on them to take action.”

Beverley was chosen as the location following talks between and the MD of the Flood Advisory Service Sarah Marriott.

Mr. Stuart who activity campaigns for more to be done about flooding is expected to attend the event on the Friday from midday.
