Beverley Arts Trust performance of Beryl

On Wednesday 21st of this month brought a sold out performance of Maxine Peake’s critically acclaimed play ‘BERYL – A Romance on Two Wheels’.

The play has been described as a ‘compassionate homage’ to the life of Yorkshire woman Beryl Burton who, through her passion for , became thirteen times national champion, five times world pursuit champion and twice road-racing world champion among other awards.

Beverley Arts Trust organised the West Yorkshire Playhouse production and brought it to Beverley through Artery Live, a rural touring initiative to bring some of the most exciting arts events to more remote areas.

This sold out production shows how passion for the arts is thriving in this district’ said Beverley Arts Trust.
