Judging Takes Place For Beverley Food Festival Awards

Judging has taken place at the Tickton Grange Hotel for the Beverley Food Festival and EYLFN Awards.

The panel made up of David Nowell, Paul Vincent, Roy Woodcock, Phil White, Peter Astell and Helen Watson had the job to pick the winners out of 98 entries.

All in all there were 13 food categories with a further 22 categories which are judged by the East Yorkshire Local Food Network.

This year the overall number of people who entered the competition is again on par with previous competitions with judges describing the standard as excellent.

Helen Watson, Town Clerk at Beverley Town Council said;

“The standards are yet again excellent with some great variety and innovation. The winners will be revealed to the public on Tuesday 22 September at the Tickton Grange Hotel.”

Taking place on the 4 October, the Beverley Food Festival is in its 10th year. The event brings in thousands of people from all over the UK who browse the market and various demonstrations that are held throughout the day.

For the third consecutive year the Beverley Food Festival has linked up with the Beverley Real Ale Festival which will be based from the .

Organisers say there will be some new stalls and are also reaching out to the community to get involved, Helen said;

“We have some new stalls, along with some of the original stalls and a Beverley Food Festival brochure depicting some events over the last 9 Festivals.”

“We are encouraging local shops, , restaurants and cafes to get involved in the celebration and do something special in their own establishment to join in the celebration.”

“It would be great to know what the Food Festival means to them and if they have any special menus and other events within their own establishment.”
