RUGBY UNION : Colts Come Out On Top In The Derby

Beverley RUFC Colts were celebrating after they beat their local rivals 25-24 at Beaver Park.

Ionians who top the league went into the game knowing a win would put an end to any hopes Beverley have of winning the league but found themselves 8 points behind early on thanks to a Ben Smith try that was soon followed by a Jacob Holmes Penalty.

The visitors however showed why they are atop of the table battling back turning the game on its head and going into the break in the lead.

When Beverley’s Alfie Hart-Fisher bust two tackles to score from 10 meters out the momentum was with certainly starting to swing Beverley’s way.

However the game was brought to halt after a Hull player suffered a bad injury caused by a collision with one of his own team mates.

In order to complete the game it was moved to back pitch as Beverley edged the victory with further try from Luke Hazell with Holmes slotting home a penalty to complete the scoring.

If the Colts can carry on this form into their final three fixtures and win each of their games they will end the season as champions.

Final Score : Beverley RUFC Colts 25 Hull Ionians 24
