Flurry Of Festive Fun At Day Centres And Care Homes

is always a busy time of year but service users at East Riding of Yorkshire Council run day centres and care homes have been exceptionally busy celebrating the festive period.

Residents at Town View, in Beverley have been busy fund-raising at their Christmas Fair which featured stalls selling a range of produce and hand-made gifts.

The fair raised around £670 for resident funds and all the staff and residents have thanked everyone who supported the event for their generosity.

A Christmas party, featuring live music from Lazy Dazy, has been held at Wold Haven Residential Unit which was thoroughly enjoyed by all residents, their families and staff.

Wold Haven Residential Unit has also raised over £1,000 for their welfare funds at a Christmas Fair. They have thanked Chrissie East, Gemma and Amy Wilcock, Lisa Bartley and Katie Tissiman for all their hard work and dedication.

And there has been a flurry of festive themed activities happening at Millers Day Centre, in Beverley including Christmas lunches, drama performances and day trips.

The Millers drama group have staged their annual pantomime, Jungle Book, which featured fantastic costumes made by the parent of a service user.

Their annual Christmas fair, which featured a range of hand-made items, was well supported and raised over £2,000 for welfare funds.

The ladies’ health and beauty group at Millers have also enjoyed a night out at Lairgate as a treat for all their hard work during the year, while one of the centre’s sensory group have visited a local garden centre taking in all the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas time.

Millers took part in the Beverley Minster Christmas Tree Festival after being invited to decorate one of the trees which was sponsored by John English Associates of Beverley.

The day centre also supported the Mission Christmas by donating gifts to the cause.

Councillor Richard Harrap, the council’s portfolio holder for adult and carer services said: “This is just a selection of the Christmas themed activities that have been taking place at our day centres and care homes so it really has been a busy time for everyone.

“I am impressed with the variety of activities that have been taking place across the East Riding and I would like to congratulate everyone involved, including service users, carers and staff, for all their fantastic efforts.”

, Director of corporate strategy and commissioning at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: “After visiting day centres last week in , Goole and , I was delighted to see everyone getting involved in the festive fun.

“I would like to thank everyone who got involved in supporting the Christmas activities including staff, service users and carers.
