Michael Murphy Has Chest and Legs Waxed For Charity

Michael Murphy has helped raise over £500 for charity by having his chest and legs waxed by local beautician Chloe Oliver.

The idea came after his mother , who owns Riverside Cafe, was contacted and asked to make a donation to help fund a sensory room for six month old Lachlan, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy.

He said;

“Lachlan has a very limited life span because his muscles are deteriorating. The hospital have advised the family that having a sensory room in their home containing a Jacuzzi will help to stimulate his muscles.”

“However, to have this built in their home will cost more than £8,000, so the family are seeking the help of the charity Precious Kids Children’s Trust to help fund the project.”

“My mum agreed to donate £50 to the charity before she and my girlfriend, , hatched a plan to raise more by involving me, suggesting I have my body hair removed through waxing.”

Commenting on the waxing Michael said;

“It was a very different experience and quite painful. For a few days I have been pulling odd hairs off my chest and thought that didn’t hurt, so was really surprised at how painful it was when it came to it.”

During the waxing, his family came to watch and offer their support.  His sister Leanne also got involved, pulling one of the wax strips off his chest.

Michael says he has no plans to keep up the smooth look, but has not ruled out a repeat of the ordeal if the right fundraiser came along.

He said;

“I would certainly do it again for charity but it’s not a look I want to maintain. I like having my hairy chest and legs as they help keep me warm. This was for a good cause, and in fairness I enjoyed having it done.”

Chloe, who performed the waxing  said;

“I thought the waxing went really well! He was actually really good and managed not to kick me in the face as I pulled the strips off him.”
