Royal Standard To Remain Open During Transition Period

Regulars of will be pleased to learn that their local pub will remain open during the transition period.

The departure of Nick Bean from the North Bar Within boozer left some people concerned that their local may be closed however Punch Taverns who own one of the oldest boozers in Beverley have confirmed it will stay open.

In statement released the company which has around 4,000 public houses has given assurances it will remain open, a spokesman for the company said;

“We can confirm that following a change of tenant, the Royal Standard has now re-opened with a temporary tenant.”

“We are already well underway with the recruitment for a new tenant and are also planning a refurbishment which will retain and enhance the traditional features and charm of the pub.”

The news will be welcomed by social groups and of course the darts team who were all actively seeking other venues to relocate to should the pub indeed be closed.

A grade II listed building it is thought the Royal Standard got its name as it was used by workman of the Royal Standard lodge of the Independent Order of British Workmen.

It is hopeful the pub will re-open again this evening (Tuesday) from 6pm.
