Usher Rides Like ‘A Man Possessed’ At Knockhill

G&S Racing Kawasaki riders had a good weekend on their visit to Knockhill in Scotland with Dominic Usher finishing his Stock 100 race in a fantastic fifth position, Kevin Van Leuven riding to a strong points finish in 10th place in the Stock 600 series and Tom Fisher battling through to 28th position in the stock 1000 after suffering a big crash in free practice.

Dominic Usher from Beverley rode like a man possessed to bring home his first championship points of the current campaign. Starting from a second row grid position in the Stock 1000 class Dom was pushed back to 11th on the first lap charge but once he got into his race rhythm he began to make progress through the field to settle into a strong fifth position on lap 11 of 24.

He maintained fifth through the remainder of the race and although making inroads into the four riders ahead he was unable to make a pass and crossed the finish line in fifth place for his best result of the season.

Commenting on the race meeting Usher said;

“I really like the short Knockhill circuit and this reflected in my performance today. Although I was running in fifth place I was beginning to reel in the four riders ahead and given another few laps I could maybe have caught them. But I will take fifth and the 11 points that come with it and move on to the next round with renewed confidence.”

Team Manager Mark Fisher said;

“Dominic really excelled today; he does like Knockhill and thoroughly deserved his fifth place. After the last time out at Snetterton where he didn’t go so well he was determined to secure a better result this weekend and he certainly did that.”

“He got held up a bit mid race as he had to take avoiding action when someone crashed. But for that he would have been right with the leaders and possibly looking at a podium.”

The next round is at Brands Hatch on July 20 when all three riders will be challenging for position to bring some more points back to the team.
