and Galliford Try Ltd are pleased to provide a further update on the progress being made on the highway maintenance works in Saturday Market, Beverley.

The reconstruction phase in the Market Cross area is now complete and work to relay the kerbs and reconstruct the footway on the west side of the market, between Old Waste and Toll Gavel, will start this week.

The following week, beginning Monday, 7 October, will see the taking up and relaying of the stone setts between NatWest Bank and Multiyork. Both this and the footway works will continue until the middle of November.

Within the areas of completed paving, the new bollards, seats, litter bins and cycle stands will also be installed, as will the new lighting columns.

On Friday, 15 November, highway reconstruction work will be suspended and the site compounds removed to allow the area to be clear in the run up to Christmas. In the New Year works will re-start to reconstruct and repave the main market area and relay the stone setts from to Toll Gavel.

Dave Waudby, head of infrastructure and facilities, said: “We will continue to try to keep any disruption to a minimum for businesses, residents and visitors and we very much appreciate and value their continued support and cooperation while the improvements are being carried out.

“Work to business thresholds will be undertaken outside of normal working hours, again with the aim of reducing any disruption.”

Residents can contact the site office should they have any queries or concerns regarding any aspect of the scheme.
