Beverley Town Held At Home By Sculcoates

Beverley Town Football Club shared a goalless draw with Sculcoates Amateurs at the .

In match that lacked any real chances for either side two of the Humber Premier League heavy weights effectively cancelled one another out in front of over 100 people who turned up to watch the match.

The game was poor and chances were few and far between for both sides, Towns best chance fell to Rob Northen who was unable to convert his header from inside the box while the Sculcoates had a good shout for a penalty ignored.

To the frustration of the home fans Beverley were unable to string any passes together with the ball spending most of the time being ‘lumped’ up and down the field.

Player manager also had a half chance, but his scissor kick flew over the bar and into the bushes which all but summed up the game.

Ahead of this fixture Ricardo expressed its importance knowing that Sculcoates will be one of the sides challenging for the championship.

There were lots of positives to come from this game for Beverley Town, the biggest one was without doubt the performance of the young goal keeper Oliver Thane, who was called into the side to replace the injured .

Thane proved to be very dominant in the box and showed good handling skills through out the match, for such a young man in game of this magnitude, he was arguably Town’s best player on the night.

You can be critical and say this was two points lost, but this was always going to be a tight encounter with at best only the odd goal in it. The managers from both clubs will wake up this morning and be quite happy that their teams have not lost and they to have another point on the board.

Beverley Town came away from this fixture with another clean sheet, their second of the season, and also a valuable championship point, they remain unbeaten and showed that even on an off day they have the ability to grind out a result.

Saturday will be a massive test for the Ricardo and his players with a trip to Filey Community Sports Ground to face current league leader’s Scarborough Athletic Reserves who may just well prove to be the dark horses of the league this season.

Final Score: Beverley Town Football Club 0 Sculcoates Amateurs 0
